DI-MARC project was presented at the conference “THE EMPOWERMENT OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES THROUGH EDUCATION”

DI-MARC project team participated on conference titled “Supporting the Empowerment of
People with Disabilities through Education”, held, on August 21, 2024 in the premises of the
Zvezdara City Municipality. This event, organized by the Association of People with
Disabilities of Belgrade, is part of the “Exit from the Empowered Circle” Project, supported
by the Secretariat for Social Protection of the City of Belgrade. The event brought together
representatives of relevant institutions who discussed current issues and support measures for
people with disabilities.
Gordana Pušara, President of the Association of People with Disabilities of Belgrade and a
member of the DI-MARC project team, opened the tribune and introduced the “Exit from the
Empowered Circle” program. She emphasized that continuous education is not only a means
to acquire new skills and knowledge but also a crucial factor in strengthening self-confidence
and motivation among members of this sensitive social group. Additionally, psychological
support is essential for overcoming the challenges faced in daily life, helping them feel
included and valued.

Sonja Manojlović, a member of the DI-MARC project team representing the Regional
Development and European Integration Agency Belgrade, presented the key activities of the
project, highlighting the importance of training planned for individuals with physical
disabilities. Special emphasis was placed on digital marketing training, which is of significant
importance for this target group, as it facilitates easier integration into the labour market and
opens up new opportunities for professional development. It was noted that the curriculum
for these training sessions is currently being developed, carefully tailored to the real needs of
individuals with physical disabilities to ensure they acquire skills that are in demand and
applicable in today’s job market.
During the tribune, representatives from the Zvezdara City Municipality, the Ministry of
Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights
and Social Dialogue, and the National Employment Service presented their activities and
support programs for people with disabilities.

The event was also attended by representatives of the Regional Development and European
Integration Agency Belgrade project team, as well as members of the Institute of Economic
Sciences, whose presence further underscored the importance and relevance of the project.
The tribune highlighted the significance of continuous education for people with disabilities,
emphasizing that it is crucial for improving their access to the labour market and social
resources.
